Silently Together: A Poem For You
Intake and outtake
In breath
and
out breath
Drawing in
Letting go
Life is like this,
I think.
When we forget
to do one
without the other
It’s like a marriage
ill-matched.
Dance step
gone wrong
Toes squashed.
Lovers apart
who would much rather be
side by side
rowing in the same boat.
Separate but equal,
in synch with self and soul
with every wave
and each other
Silently together.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
This is how, I think,
everything works.
