Happy Flow Day!
Four years ago—on October 20, 2021–Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi passed away.
On that day, our Flow Community was on day one of a 28-Day Flow Challenge.
Those 28 days ended up being particularly transformative for many of us.
In Csikszentmihalyi‘s memory and honor, I invite you to spend 5-10 minutes today doing something you absolutely love to do—something that has a high chance of getting you into flow.
You might be surprised what happens! 🎉
If you’ve never heard of Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, he was the insightful, wise Hungarian-American psychologist who first discovered the #flow state as a distinct psychological experience.
Flow is that feeling we get when we’re so into what we’re doing that we lose track of time.
Flow can lead to increased productivity, passion for life, and trigger feelings of deep peace, even when the world around us is in chaos.
Csikszentmihalyi spent his lifetime seeking to answer these questions:
What makes life enjoyable?
What gives our lives meaning?
What helps us overcome hard times?
Not only was flow the answer, Csikszentmihalyi was convinced that everyday flow experiences—think of those activities that seem meaningless but bring us joy—are extremely important when it comes to our overall wellbeing.
Join me in honoring Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi’s memory today.
All it takes is 5-10 minutes.
Dance…
Write…
Have a meaningful conversation…
Make art…
Make music…
Play a game…
Stretch yourself…
Do what you love…
Flow.
