I’ve Decided Today: A Poem
I’ve decided today
that I am walking forward
toward my dreams
because to not
would be close to suicide
Not in bodily form,
but death to the greatest part
of myself.
I’ve decided today
that to be proud and strong
to stand tall
even in the face of
storms ahead
and memories of those behind
requires nothing less than
simple craziness
and sublime courage.
I’ve decided that when I stop
or pause,
and there are so many moments
like these
when I yearn to,
there is some small part of me
so much wiser
that whispers and beckons
and reminds me of the freedom
that only comes when one is fully part of oneself
And the bond with all those who believe that
She is lesser
finally shatter,
broken.
I’ve decided to rise up and connect with my Source,
that voice
that forever whispers:
Come dance with me.
Come play my tune.
Be my soulmate.
And together,
in the dark of the night,
we will steal away
and leap among the stars
until the daylight comes
and we can dance together again
on paper.
